Urbana University, Ohio - Founded in 1850, with the ground work for its creation being laid in part by John Chapman, who is better known as Johnny "Appleseed" was the second institution in Ohio to admit women and the first nontraditional degree completion program of its kind in Ohio. The liberal arts University became the first (and at present the only) University to become a Charter Member of the International Sustainability Council. To see a copy of the Urbana University Sustainability Charter visit:

Steve Jones, President of the University and an ISC Council member has reported that several Charter related projects are already underway on the 128 acre campus, including a habitat restoration project, a full campus energy audit and several other initiatives that will be reported on in future posts on this blog.

Ron- If you're interested in some really interesting Johnny Applessed History check out the book "The Botany of Desire: A plant's eye view of the world" by Michael Pollan. Great read-this book is phenomenal. Regina
Hello,
My name is Bill Hawthorne, and I represent maacenter.org, a leading web resource for asbestos exposure and mesothelioma cancer information. Our organization is dedicated to increasing awareness of the terrible health consequences of asbestos exposure through the distribution of the best informational materials and public outreach efforts.
I found your site through a search and decided to contact you because of its high environmental and green presence which is extremely important in our movement. Your viewers are extremely savvy and motivated. The promotion of how buildings should now be built using sustainable green products to avoid asbestos and mesothelioma as well as the awareness of past buildings and preventative steps in avoiding asbestos exposure are extremely important. My goal is to get a resource link on your site/blog or even to provide a guest posting to be placed.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to check out our website at www.maacenter.org. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Bill
